Buy a copy of a certificate
We hold the registers for all births, deaths and marriages/civil partnerships in Plymouth from 1837.
You can buy additional certificates when you register a birth, marriage or death, or you can order a copy of a certificate after registration.
Our new online service allows you to apply and pay for certificates through our website. You can then choose to collect your certificate from the Register Office, free of charge, or have it delivered to your home address for a fee. Both our 24 hour priority service and five day standard service are available online.
Please note: If the event for which you require a copy of a certificate for has taken place in the past six weeks, you will not be able to apply online. Please use an alternative option.
- Birth, marriage or death certificate from current register until archived - £7
- Birth, marriage or death certificate from archived register - £10
- Postage fee to any UK mainland address - £1
If all the required information is provided, we can issue your certificates within five working days.
If you need a certificate quickly, for £15 (in addition to the certificate price) we can issue your certificate within 24 hours of receiving your application. You can choose to either collect your certificate from the Register Office, free of charge, or have it delivered to your home address for a fee.
