Forder Valley Interchange

About the Scheme

The scheme improved and extended the substandard merge from Forder Valley (Leigham) Roundabout heading north on Forder Valley Road, and added a new lane heading south on the approach to the roundabout and on the roundabout itself. Pedestrian and cycling facilities were also enhanced.

The improvements increased capacity and allows traffic to flow more smoothly, relieving congestion and queueing which extended back onto the roundabout circulatory and down the A38 westbound off-slip.

The scheme received a £5 million contribution from the Department for Transport's National Productivity Investment Fund, £3.83 million from the Community Infrastructure Levy and £100,000 Growth Deal funding from the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership.

Work started in March 2021 and completed in autumn 2022.
