Request a library item

Items in stock

You can reserve items that we have in stock using the online catalogue. They will be sent to your local library for you to collect.

You will need your library card and PIN to check the online catalogue and reserve items. If you're not a member, you'll need to join a library to get a library card and PIN.

Items not in stock

If you're looking for something that isn't in your library, we can try and find it for you. You can request items that we don't have in stock.

There is a charge for requesting items that are not in stock.

You will first need to check if the item is in stock using the online catalogue.

If the item is not in stock you can submit a request for a library item that isn't in stock through the online catalogue.

Urgent requests

If you need an item as soon as possible you can submit an urgent request to us using the online catalogue. The book will need to have been published for at least 3 months before we can consider the request. 

It may still take several weeks to locate the item as we rely on other sources.

There is a charge for urgent requests.

What you can borrow

You can borrow more than books in your library. Our libraries also have audiobooks, board games, micro:bit computers and language courses.

Available to browse and borrow from all of our libraries.

Books and audiobooks

You can borrow up to 12 books and up to 8 audiobooks. Books and audiobooks are issued for 3 weeks. You can borrow them for up to 3 weeks and renew them if nobody else is waiting for them.

eBooks and eAudiobooks

You can download and borrow up to 8 eBooks and eAudiobooks using the Libby app and up to 8 eAudiobooks using the BorrowBox app. You can borrow them for up to 3 weeks and renew them if nobody else is waiting for them.

eMagazines and eComics

You can download eMagazines and eComics for free using the Libby app or the Libby website.

Digital newspapers

You can read newspapers through PressReader with the BorrowBox app.

Micro:bits

The micro:bit is a tiny programmable computer that is used to develop coding skills.

It has many features including 25 red LED lights that can flash messages and two programmable buttons that can be used to control games. The micro:bit also has a motion sensor, a temperature gauge, compass and Bluetooth antenna.

The Micro:bit website has lots of ideas and help to get you started.

You can borrow them for up to 3 weeks.

Music and drama

Music and play sets are available to borrow. Hire charges apply.

You can listen to over 2 million classical music tracks on the Naxos website.

Readers group book sets

If you are a group and your members would like to read the same book, we have sets of books available to borrow.

Language courses

Language courses are available by reservation only. They can be reserved on the library catalogue.

There is a charge for borrowing language courses.
